We were asked to read and analyze a blog post for the video focus group. I read the post Why Hulu Succeeded as Other Video Sites Failed.

Summary of the Article

The article discusses how Hulu’s content has a high demand on the Internet because it provides network television such as NBC and CBS.

Hulu is the Internet outlet for network television, something YouTube cannot provide.

“Hulu, in effect, is Amazon.com to YouTube’s eBay,” states Hansel.

It is rather surprising that Hulu has found success in such a difficult market. Since launching in 2007, Hulu has effectively distributed what You Tube could not, content previously only seen on your TV.

Focus Group Questions

We need to determine the demographics for Hulu and how they compares to network tele
vision.

· Do you subscribe to Hulu, or have you used its content?
· Does your current television have a DVR or Tivo?
TiVo
· How often do you sit down and watch a TV series online?
